Treasurer Report: Working on an update with Duane |
The trip to move the Thunder Gull was postponed. No updated plan yet.
Doug asked that someone put together the meeting program for Feb, Mar, Apr.
February Ron will provide information about a standby alternator project that he's working on.
Doug will try to ask Carl to discuss rivets at the March meeting.
Doug will cover April; which is right after Sun n Fun
Spring Fly-in will coincide with the Breakfast Club Fly-in at Hardee Air Park. We have agreed to team up for the Breakfast Club event planned for May 29th.
Everyone is encouraged to invite pilots that haven't been flying in a while. It may help remind them why they fell in love with aviation in the first place.
Established that we won't take new members "officially" outside the normal dues time (November / December) because the registration has to get to National in January. People are ALWAYS welcome to attend and participate regardless of official status.
Alternator regulators and the airplanes that still use the old type auto regulators. Ron mentioned the old Blue Back alternators that Ford makes and still used for aircraft.
Watched a video about modifying a drill bit to cut plexiglass without cracking the plexiglass. Also, allowing a little gap to clear the fastener to allow expansion of the material with temp and pressure. Pressurized cabins just need grommets around the gap.
Pilot's bill of rights and "medical reform" The house and senate have passed two separate bills so have to go to reconciliation. We expect the new rule will:
Once every 4 years you have to visit your doctor
Reduced the reasons a medical can be declined. Focus on stuff that impacts mental and physical performance without warning.
Student pilot license will become the logbook entry.
